Security - Security News

Professor BC is a Computer Science professor at a prestigious university in California and an old friend of ours.  Here are his comments on "textbook & deep books in computer security".

Professor BC: "I haven't read http://www.amazon.com/Introduction-Modern-Cryptography-Principles-Protocols/dp/1584885513 because there's too much math. (I also just realized that I cannot find this book. I'm sure that it was on my shelf a year ago.) But I know of the author (Kats). He is a good crypto/security guy. So I assume this book would be good and deep.

For network security, Stallings's book is probably one of the standard books that many people use: http://www.amazon.com/Cryptography-Network-Security-Principles-Practice/dp/0136097049/ and http://www.amazon.com/Network-Security-Essentials-Applications-Standards/dp/0136108059/ .

For my security class, I use the ever-so-popular: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0471117099/. Not a deep book but relatively easy to read."

Thank you Professor BC!  For the more information about Computers & Security, be sure to read the "Top Computer Security Forensics Books of 2010", "Top Wireless Network Security Books of 2010", "Top Hacking Books of 2010" and "Top Computer Security Software of 2010" in our "Security" Section.
