The big hack event that happened this year when, what is thought to be (and most likely confirmed to be) hackers from China that went to various big companies, and performed high scale attacks. Examples of this are Google, Adobe, etc.

From what has been recently been revealed, was that the exact thing that was stolen from Google. This is their login authentication system, named Gaia.

This pretty much means that their password system was stolen. This obviously leads to obvious problems, such as people stealing passwords, or getting into the system, or using the source of that for finding more vulnerabilities to possibly come back again.
